CREATIVE WRITING & PUBLISHING WITH ENDLESSWILL

Ages 10 - 15  |  8:30am - 3pm  |  $330

Hosted by 2016 - 2018 Hillsborough Poet Laureate, 2022 ArtPrize Contemporary Art award winner, and author William Davis, this writing workshop is an instructional practice designed to help children become confident and capable writers. During the Writing Workshop, campers will have time to work independently and with their peers. They will engage in the writing process by selecting topics, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing their original work. Students will work together to come up with a general theme for the anthology that will be created, and each participant will finish the week as a published author.

OLYMPIC SPORTS CAMP II

Ages 9-14  |  8:30am - 3pm  |  $330

For the love of the Games, join Coach Holman for a fun-filled week of sports, contests, and challenges. There won’t be any wrestling or water polo, but campers of all athletic abilities will enjoy relay races combined with random challenges like balancing an egg or water bottle flipping. We’ll also see if we can beat our own personal records as we take on creative obstacle courses and time trials. Why buy gold if you can earn it?

Jeremy Holman teaches and coaches track at Wake Forest High School. He has worked at a wide variety of summer camps and clubs including the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, and Young Life. These experiences have given him an opportunity to witness the amazing growth and development of children of all ages.

FARM CAMP II —> FULL

Ages 9 - 13  |  8:30am - 3pm  |  $330

Join seasoned environmental educator and Farm School founder CC King to learn homesteading skills like bread-baking, candle-dipping, and soap-making. We'll be eating our bread with butter we've churned from the cream of a local cow. Perhaps you'd like to share some lemon curd you made from lemons you squeezed and added to eggs you collected from chickens that you know. Each day we will spend time at the Emerson Waldorf School farm, in the garden and with the animals, as well as in the woods.  Throughout the week, we will make farm crafts, play games, and grow in friendship.

BREAD-MAKING AROUND THE WORLD

Ages 7 - 11  |  8:30am - 3pm  |  $330

Explore, discover, and experience bread-making traditions around the world! Campers will learn the art of bread-making that five different cultures have passed down since long ago. From Indian Chapatis and Mexican tortillas to Challah Bread and Sourdough, we will discover how to make ancient bread recipes that are still popular today. Let's get rolling!

Atula Jones has had a life-long passion for the arts. She had a career in the world of fashion before she began teaching art classes to children. Atula and her family moved to Chapel Hill in 2019 for friends and community. She was the art director for a local private school and is still currently teaching art classes at Golden Moon Studio, as well as offering clubs at the Expedition School in Hillsborough.

OLYMPIC SPIRIT

Dive into the spirit of the summer Olympics! Campers will enjoy an action-packed week of Olympic-inspired games, challenges, and crafts. Planned activities include Olympic-style relays, creating Olympic rings using natural materials, painting countries’ flags on rocks, and designing our very own Olympic medals. Campers may also join the Olympic sports camp for opening and closing ceremonies.

Katie Songey has a Master’s degree in Reading Education and teaches English with Durham Public Schools. She currently coaches high school soccer and swim teams, and she loves watching the Olympics!
